Nurse Practitioner - Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences (Practitioner) As a full‑time clinical faculty member, you will hold an academic appointment in the Department of Psychiatry and the Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC and provide clinical services for Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Services at University Park Campus (UPC). Salary is competitive and contingent on experience. Description of PBHS@UPC Located in a contemporary state‑of‑the‑art facility in the Engemann Student Health Center on USC’s University Park Campus, the practice serves USC students requiring intensive or ongoing mental and behavioral health services. A multidisciplinary team comprised of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, psychologists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and case managers accomplish the practice’s mission of providing access to the highest quality of mental health care for all students.

Essential Functions

Reports to the Medical Director

Provides outpatient treatment of mental disorders for students/patients, including evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment

Facilitates higher level of care referrals and hospitalizations when needed

Supports medication treatment with brief supportive therapy and motivational interviewing when indicated

Responds to urgent clinical concerns as needed

Provides after‑hours on‑call service, as assigned

Participates in multidisciplinary case conferences and clinic meetings

Collaborates and consults with other mental health and primary care providers who may also provide psychiatric medication management to students/patients

Attends and contributes to department and division meetings, fostering clinical objectives and a consultative collegial environment

Participates in biannual peer review, merit review, and quality improvement activities

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the State of California

Must have a minimum of 3 years of psychiatric ambulatory care experience

Strong oral and written communication skills

Commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice and to lifelong learning

Cultural competence and humility, including an appreciation of how experiences, beliefs, values of diverse individuals and groups affect clinical interactions and practice

Ability to work cooperatively on an interdisciplinary team and with public, private, and other community organizations

Willingness to promote and function in a collaborative and collegial environment to serve the department, health system and medical school missions

The annual base salary range for this position is $140,000‑$200,000.
