Requirements

Active RN License

Degree from an accredited nursing program

BLS, ACLS & NRP Certification

18 months recent experience in an Acute Care Mother/Baby setting

Other requirements to be determined by the client facility

Duties & Responsibilities

Educate and assist new mothers with physical and emotional needs during the postpartum period

Caring for both moms and their newborns after delivery

Monitoring mothers and helping to ensure proper recovery; recognizing postpartum depression and teaching mothers how to address emotions

Teaching new parents how to care, bathe, breastfeed and/or bottle‑feed the newborn and monitoring the newborn’s health
