Overview
West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Pediatrics seek an Adolescent Medicine physician (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. The West Virginia University Health System is the state's largest health system and the largest employer. The system includes multiple hospitals, institutes, and a new Children’s Hospital, with extensive pediatric services and subspecialties. Duties
The successful candidate will practice in the area of Adolescent Medicine and will join a group of two adolescent medicine physicians, including full-time clinical and combination clinical-research faculty with funding through NIH and private sources. Clinical responsibilities will include seeing adolescent and young adult patients with duties that entail a mix of general adolescent clinic and participation in multidisciplinary clinics, inpatient consults, and telemedicine in collaboration with advanced practice providers throughout the state. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the candidate will be actively involved in teaching medical students and residents. Qualifications
Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Candidate must have completed a pediatrics, medicine/pediatrics, or family medicine residency program, as well as an adolescent medicine fellowship program. Candidate must be board certified/eligible in adolescent medicine. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Facilities and Community
Our 150-bed Children’s Hospital includes pediatric operating rooms, cardiac catheterization lab/interventional radiology, GI-endoscopy with dedicated pediatric anesthesia staff; 34 pediatric beds, 54 NICU beds, 26 PICU beds, Heart Center, and a dedicated Cancer Center. WVU Medicine Children's is a Level 2 Pediatric Trauma Center, with plans to become Level 1. J. W. Ruby Memorial Hospital offers pediatric cardiac surgery, an epilepsy monitoring unit for children, and Magnet status for nursing excellence. The WVU Health System serves a multi-state region and operates West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center and a new 150-bed Children's Hospital opened in September 2022.
