Join to apply for the
Veterinary Extern - General Practice
role at
NVA General Practice . We would be so honored to have you join our team here at Lange Veterinary Center! We are a small, experienced team that loves what we do. Our 4 technicians have a combined 60 years of experience. We are a laid-back location that has fun every day. We are a general practice hospital that also sees emergencies during the day, with no expectation to hinder your work/life balance by coming in after hours or working nights. We see a wide variety of emergencies, providing a great opportunity to gain knowledge. We also see exotics, offering a chance to strengthen experience with reptiles, birds, and small animals. Lake Havasu, on the Colorado River, offers beautiful desert scenery and outdoor activities such as kayaking, boating, and hiking (outside of summer months). An externship at an NVA hospital provides a unique opportunity to understand daily operations and gain hands-on clinical experience. All NVA hospitals share a supportive environment, a commitment to excellent medicine, and a focus on exceptional service to animals and their owners. Externs will work closely with supervising veterinarians to gain experience in patient histories, physical exams, treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry, surgical procedures, and medical management. They will also have opportunities to practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Externship durations range from two to eight weeks, depending on schedules. All veterinary students, regardless of class year, are encouraged to participate. Students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
