Supervisor of Histology Lab - Anatomical Pathology - Kings Hwy is a role that oversees operation, technical and personnel management in the Histology Department. The incumbent resolves day-to-day lab operational problems, notifies the Lab Manager/Physician Supervisor as appropriate, maintains a patient/client focused section compliant with accrediting/regulatory standards, oversees training of all personnel in the section, performs technical work as necessary, and ensures compliance with Ochsner Health System and Laboratory policies and practices. Coordinate daily operations of the Histology Department. Supervise, train and develop department staff. Oversee performance improvement and quality control programs. Ensure fiscal responsibility within the department. Participate in department projects and relevant organizational programs (e.g., PALM). Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local laws, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements applicable to the area of responsibility. Ensure adherence to the Ochsner Health System Compliance & Privacy Program and Standards of Conduct; report any known or suspected unethical or questionable behavior or conduct; safeguard patient privacy and safety. Work with cross-functional teams to address operational issues and optimize processes. Qualifications

Education: Required — Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science. Work Experience: Required — 4 years training and experience in high complexity testing in the respective specialty under a qualified Medical Director; experience in a controlled environment with safety measures for chemicals, body fluids, and blood-borne pathogens. Certifications: Required — Current Louisiana license or temporary license as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Generalist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Specialist; meets CLIA and CAP requirements for testing personnel relative to scope of duties; meets CLIA standards as a general laboratory supervisor; ASCP certification as a Histotechnologist or Medical Technologist; if ASCP certification obtained on or after January 1, 2004, must complete ASCP Certification Maintenance Program; Preferred — current Louisiana Clinical Laboratory Scientist - Specialist license. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Proficient computer skills, data entry and retrieval; effective verbal and written communication; proficiency with Windows and role-specific software; strong interpersonal and analytical skills; ability to work independently and manage stress; ability to work outside of regular hours as needed; ability to travel between facilities. Other: Ability to comply with safety and regulatory requirements; may involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissues. Job Duties

The role includes physically demanding tasks and exposure to clinical environments. Heavy lifting, standing for extended periods, and travel between facilities may be required.
