Postdoctoral Research Associate, Biomedical Engineering

The Song lab at the University of Arizona is actively searching for a postdoctoral fellow to join our tissue engineering team. The ideal candidate will work independently and in collaboration with lab members on in vitro cell culture systems and animal models. Experience in 3D printing of soft biomaterials is desirable. The applicant is expected to have a strong background in relevant biological, molecular, and cellular assays, as well as experience with animal studies. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct and analyze experiments, contribute to research proposals, presentations, and publications, and receive mentorship from the principal investigator. Benefits

Conduct independent research evaluating regenerative therapies with in vitro cell culture studies and in vivo animal models. Carry out analysis of research samples using advanced techniques and validate measurements. Document, process, and analyze research data. Disseminate research results through publishing papers and presenting at recognized scientific journals and conferences. Help oversee a team of graduate and undergraduate research assistants to conduct the studies. Participate in and contribute to grant writing with the principal investigator. Contribute to report writing for funding sponsors. Maintain lab equipment and help oversee a lab to conduct experiments safely. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Ability to learn new skills outside of current discipline to accomplish project goals. Broad theoretical and practical knowledge within tissue engineering, cell biology, or related fields. Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. Strong work ethic, communication skills, and a team-oriented mindset. Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in Biology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline. The selected candidate must have a conferred Ph.D. upon hire. Preferred Qualifications

Strong scientific track record with well-organized design and execution of studies. Experience with cell biology, physiology, and/or tissue engineering; experience with cell culture. Experience with in vitro analytical techniques to assess the viability of tissue constructs. Experience with immunostaining, western blot, flow cytometry, ELISAs, qPCR, and microscopy. Experience with animal experiments.
