Sun River Health is currently seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join our team at our Yonkers, NY location.
A Medical Assistant helps patients and the clinical team at designated health center in support of medical care as directed by the nursing and medical staff and pursuant to the objectives and policies of the Center. This position performs job duties in compliance with systems and job specific standards and additional jobs or duties assigned.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Medical Assistant:
Takes vital signs, vision, and/or hearing tests, records patient data in eCW, (laboratory results, pain level, PEAS, PhQ, Smoke status, etc.), documents reason for visit and ensures CVRs are completed as needed. Performs in-house labs, performs quality control and maintenance of equipment in accordance with organizational protocols. Draws blood and collects other specimens as directed by providers and processes accordingly. Conducts routine tests in areas such as serology, hematology, chemistry, histology and cytology using standard techniques and equipment. Collects specimens for outside labs (ex. Pap, cultures, etc.). Prepares exam room and any needed equipment and assists/chaperones during examination and treatment of patients. Keeps clinical area stocked and in good order. Maintains stock of laboratory supplies. Assures that all dated material is kept current and disposes of outdated supplies. Cleans and sterilizes all equipment and logs according to organizational policy and/or manufacturers guidelines. Performs basic clerical work in service area; answers phones in appropriate manner, communicates problems/concerns to nurse; handles telephone inquiries. Ensures all appropriate logs are maintained. Keeps records for laboratory tests. Performs EKGs. Minimum Education Requirement:
High School diploma/GED with Medical Assistant Training Certificate. Preferred Education Requirement:
Associate's degree with Medical Assistant National Certificate. Minimum Related Work Experience:
