Musical Bridges, established in 2005, is the leading music therapy provider in Middle Tennessee. We’re expanding our clinical team to develop innovative community programs and partnerships with local nonprofits while maintaining our dedication to quality music therapy services.

Position Overview We’re seeking a passionate Neurologic Music Therapist to expand our presence in the community through engaging group programs and strategic partnerships. This unique role blends clinical work with community-based program development, serving both children and adults in a variety of settings, including our clinic and partner locations such as schools, adult day programs, kids’ gyms, and more.

Ideal Candidates

Experience working with autistic children and adults

Experience with ADHD, sensory processing needs, mental health needs, diverse behavioral needs

Experience with developmental disabilities (ages 2 and up)

Responsibilities As a Neurologic Music Therapist at Musical Bridges, you’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality, innovative services across clinic and community settings. Your responsibilities will include:

Plan and conduct weekly Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) sessions

Lead adapted music lessons in piano, guitar, and voice

Write detailed session notes and maintain accurate clinical data

Develop and provide home resources to support carryover and generalization

Communicate client progress clearly to families, staff, and treatment teams

Collaborate with partner agencies, other providers, and internal staff

Attend and contribute to team meetings, supervision, and trainings

Travel to off-site community-based sessions as needed

Represent Musical Bridges at biannual recitals, resource fairs, in-services, and other outreach events

Participate in ongoing professional development to maintain credentials and enhance skills

Support marketing and outreach efforts as part of our nonprofit mission

Clean and sanitize instruments and equipment regularly following protocols

Qualifications We’re looking for a passionate, skilled, and collaborative therapist who is ready to make a difference in the lives of children and adults.

Education & Certification

Board-Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC)

Neurologic Music Therapist (NMT) preferred — or willing to complete training within 3 months

Professional Experience

Minimum 1+ year of clinical experience (preferred)

Experience working with children with special needs, including autism

Background in adapted/basic music instruction (piano, guitar, voice)

Comfort using Google Docs & Sheets

Skills & Strengths

Excellent communication skills, verbal and written

Detail-oriented with strong time management

Skilled writer with ability to document thoroughly and clearly

Creative in developing visual supports and therapeutic materials
