Overview

Title: Speech Language Pathologist; Location: Cullman, AL; Department: 17-SLP; Status: Part Time The Staff Speech Pathologist shall provide quality speech/dysphagia evaluations and treatments to patients with communication and/or swallowing deficits, and participate in the departmental operations as assigned by the Clinical Director. Responsibilities

Identify, assess, and provide treatment for individuals of all ages with communication/dysphagia disorders. Manage and supervise programs and services related to human communication and its disorders. Counsel individuals with disorders of communication, their families, caregivers, and other service providers relative to the disability present and its management. Screening, identifying, assessing and interpreting, diagnosing, and rehabilitating disorders of speech, language, or oropharyngeal function and related disorders. Assessing, selecting, and developing augmentative and alternative communication systems and providing training in their use. Discharge planning in treatment program and documentation of evaluation, treatment plan, goals, progress notes, and discharge summary. Assist in record keeping and charging system of the department. Perform staff and nursing in-service programs as needed on areas of relevant interest and need. Qualifications

Education: Master's or doctoral degree, the Certificate of Clinical Competence of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-SLP) and applicable State License. Experience: Preferred completion of clinical fellowship year or will be supervised by a speech pathologist with CCC-SLP. Work Performed

Under the direction of the Clinical Director, the Speech Pathologist provides treatment only on written prescription of a licensed physician. Physical Demands

Communication and hearing skills which allow for evaluation and treatment of speech/language disorders. Special Demands

Desire to work with and for people with temporary and/or chronic physical, mental, and developmental handicaps. A knowledge of medical terminology to understand prescriptions and communicate with Physicians and staff. Preferably, knowledge and experience in the administration of videofluoroscopic evaluations and therapy for patients with dysphagia. Able to work with individuals of all ages from neonates to geriatrics.
