WVU Medicine Golisano Children’s . This position provides technical assistance in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures utilizing sterile and aseptic technique. The technologist acquires all imaging and post‑processing and provides emergency services on call. Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of a Medical Imaging Program. Current or temporary Radiography license as required by the state where services will be provided. State licensure (Maryland: Radiographer license through the Maryland Board of Physicians; Ohio: Radiographer license through the Ohio Board of Radiology; Pennsylvania: No state license required; West Virginia: Radiography License or Temporary Radiography License through the West Virginia Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy Technology Board). National certification: Registered Radiography Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) upon hire (Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania, West Virginia as applicable). Certification in Basic Life Support within 30 days of hire. State criminal background check and Federal (if applicable). Preferred Qualifications
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire. Experience
One (1) year of experience as an interventional radiologic technologist. Core Duties and Responsibilities
Monitors and interprets hemodynamic monitoring. Observes sterile technique while assembling supplies necessary for physicians and other lab personnel. Maintains confidentiality of patient and unit information. Prepares entry site for procedures using sterile technique. Continuously monitors patient’s ECG and blood pressure, documents and advises the physician. Participates in the on‑call rotation of the laboratory and remains available for emergent procedures 24 hours a day. Acts as the laboratory’s code team initiating resuscitative measures and cardiac defibrillators under physician supervision. Correctly documents all procedures and utilizes inventory control system; correctly bills. Participates in educational and in‑service opportunities. Instructs radiography students in clinical setting regarding positioning, technique selection, manipulation of equipment, and use of accessory devices. Maintains specialization in Neuroradiology and Vascular IR procedures. Participates in inventory management of the department. Checks and prepares patient prior to procedure. Participates in performance improvement activities. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for long periods while wearing lead aprons. Ability to lift, push or pull a minimum of 40 pounds. Ability to sit for extended periods. Ability to differentiate various shades of gray as depicted on a black and white monitor. Working Environment
The work environment is clinical by nature. Employee exposed to moving mechanical parts, airborne particles, body fluids, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation. Noise level usually moderate. Maintains radiation safety. Skills And Abilities
Communicate with physicians and peers professionally. Knowledgeable in sterile technique. Knowledgeable in acquiring, archiving and transmitting images to data storage system. Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, operating manuals, product information or regulations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form. Ability to solve practical problems with limited standardization of variables.
