Overview
The Behavioral Health Clinician is a key member of the therapeutic team at Cedar Knolls House. They are responsible for supplying necessary, culturally sensitive clinical interventions within the program. They work closely with the division’s medical, milieu, psychiatric and psychology staff to ensure appropriate evaluations and treatment interventions for the youth. Meet with assigned residents for weekly sessions, engage and remain in contact with their parents, ensure home visits are conducted, and provide vocational/educational, psychiatric, and recreational services as needed. Identify and provide access to specific concrete services and community resources. Engage families in planning for service. Advocate, as necessary, with external resources such as mental health providers, treatment facilities, FCLS, and community members on behalf of the residents. Provide individual, family, and group counseling on-site at Cedar Knolls House for young women 17-21 years old. Liaise between the program, family court, ACS, case planners, youth’s family members, and relevant community members. Attend other planned ACS and school conferences, as well as court hearings. Team Process
Participate in weekly team meetings and may lead the meeting on occasion. Prepare integrative treatment plan based on assessments from other professionals. Ensure follow-up as necessary from meetings. Conduct meetings to ensure proper treatment, progress in the program, and coordination of goals. Provide psychoeducation and intervention support to Direct Support Professionals. Work with Direct Support Professionals to enhance communication and cooperation between them and consumer families. Provide crisis intervention, as needed. Other duties as assigned. Documentation
Complete paperwork, including case notes, FASPs, and court reports, in a timely manner. Complete psychosocial assessment within the first 30 days of youth’s admission. Participate in audit preparation. Core Competencies

Master’s degree in Social Work (LMSW) with a minimum of one year of relevant experience with similar population, or LCSW certification required. Valid Driver’s License required. Spanish speaking a plus. Computer Skills
Knowledge of electronic medical systems or CONNECTIONS preferred. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook and Word. Aptitude for learning new systems and software. Work Environment / Physical Effort
Travel in the community with residents using agency vehicle. Engage in physical activities with the youth. Office-based work environment in a busy community-based mental health clinic. Educational/Training Required
Master’s degree in counseling, creative arts, or social work from an accredited program and a New York State License in Mental Health Counseling (LMHC); Creative Arts Therapy (LCAT), or social work (LMSW) required. Experience / Language
Experience working with children or young adults is preferred. Fluency in a second language is preferred. Salary
