Description
The University of Virginia’s Department of Neurology is seeking an open‑rank faculty‑level scientist with expertise in neurodegeneration or caregiver science. This appointment is part of a major University‑wide investment that aims to strengthen the community of neuroscientists and advance research in early biomarkers of dementia, risk factors for neurodegeneration, cognitive decline, caregiver health, and the development of interventions to mitigate these conditions. The successful candidate will join the UVA Brain Institute and work closely with diverse faculty to translate bench findings to the bedside. Dr. Goodkin Chair is searching for a clinician‑researcher who is board‑eligible or board‑certified in neurology, neuropsychology, sleep, or behavioral psychology, has a strong track record of external funding, and demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities include leading an independent research program on neurodegeneration or caregiver science, facilitating cross‑disciplinary collaborations, securing extramural funding, and providing clinical care to adult patients within the neurology specialty.
Qualifications Candidates must hold an MD, DO, PhD, MD/PhD, or DO/PhD. Successful applicants will have a record of research accomplishments, a strong, ongoing innovative program that attracts and sustains extramural funding, and ability to link bench science to clinical application.
