Job Summary
The Office for Institutional Equity at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Post-Doctoral Associate for an exciting new program called the SUNY PRODiG+ (Promoting Recruitment, Opportunity, Diversity, Inclusion and Growth) fellowship.
The PRODiG fellowship aims to: (1) increase the number and share of excellent diverse faculty committed to advancing the ideals of diversity, equity, and inclusion; and (2) provide mentorship and networking opportunities that will retain and support their academic careers. Additionally, the successful candidate will:
Work across colleges and schools at SUNY Downstate to develop novel educational initiatives that support a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging. Engage students across the colleges and schools at Downstate to ensure that the resulting programs are learner centered. Collaborate with clinicians, hospital leadership across several disciplines at the University Hospital at Downstate, patient groups and community partners to develop educational and training initiatives that advance health equity in clinical practice. Work with the Associate Vice President of the Office for Institutional Equity as a primary mentor to develop peer-review publications and amass pilot data for grant submission.
The Post-Doctoral Associate will play a key role in the development, implementation, and evaluation of health equity focused education and clinical practice guidelines across several disciplines. This two year paid post-doctoral experience will prepare the Post-Doctoral Associate for research independence, high academic rank, and tenure.

A recent cover letter, a CV that includes contact information, and references upon request. A statement of commitment to DEI initiatives in 750 words or less that describes how you’ve engaged, facilitated, and/or enhanced diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in an academic setting, clinical, or community setting. Include examples of relevant scholarly work, prior employment, or community service.
Required Qualifications
Eligible to work in the United States without a visa sponsorship. Doctoral Degree in Social Sciences, Behavioral Science, Public health or health related disciplines. Have a PhD, DrPH, DO, MD, DNP, DSW or relevant terminal doctoral degrees from an accredited institution completed prior to start date. Demonstrate personal, academic, and/or work experience engaging with diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or a commitment to facilitating and enhancing diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts in the campus community. Such experience may include, but is not limited to, an academic/scholarly track record focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion; work, volunteer/unpaid/community service; or related experience/expertise in serving underserved or vulnerable areas and/or populations. Be interested in field of research related to diversity, equity, inclusion, health disparities, health equity and education and related fields. Experience working within community, academic, or clinical settings. Contribute to advancing research through scholarship, publications, and grants. Ability to work independently and within interdisciplinary teams. Excellent writing and communication skills. Committed to developing an independent research career.
