Niles Community Schools Description
To provide comprehensive speech and language service to students and their families. To serve as a member of diagnostic teams and as a member of educational planning and placement committees to provide assessment information. To consult with teachers, staff and parents to enhance their effectiveness in helping students. To provide support to other educational programs. Follow the rules and regulations as set forth by IDEA and the Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education.
Speech and Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's) from ASHA or as a Michigan Teacher of the Speech and Language Impaired (CCC's) Willing to accept a strong Clinical Fellowship (CF) State of Michigan license through LARA required Working knowledge of federal laws, state guidelines, and local district policies Thorough knowledge of speech/language pathology necessary to assess and identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for students with speech and language impairments Experience working with children who have speech and language impairments and their families Experience working with students who have various disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder and specific learning disabilities Experience evaluating for and utilizing assistive technology with students based on communication and organizational needs and abilities

EDUCATION And EXPERIENCE
Speech and Language Pathologist with a Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC's) from ASHA or as a Michigan Teacher of the Speech and Language Impaired (CCC's) Willing to accept a strong Clinical Fellowship (CF) State of Michigan license through LARA required Working knowledge of federal laws, state guidelines, and local district policies Thorough knowledge of speech/language pathology necessary to assess and identify communication disorders and to develop appropriate programs and services for students with speech and language impairments Experience working with children who have speech and language impairments and their families Experience working with students who have various disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder and specific learning disabilities Experience evaluating for and utilizing assistive technology with students based on communication and organizational needs and abilities
Responsibilities
Participate in and/or offer supports for Student Assistance Team Participate in MTSS interventions and offer strategies for staff and possible screening of students Implement MTSS Tier 1 and Tier 2 interventions Facilitate case management through involvement with the building evaluation team meetings, consultation with parents and teachers, observation, and IEPs Administer, score and interpret appropriate evaluation instruments based on district guidelines and the specific needs of students and complete evaluation reports Determine the eligibility of students for speech/language therapy services Develop and implement appropriate therapy goals and objectives and complete IEPs with maintaining State and Federal compliance Monitor and collect data to aid in student supports and services Comply with all Medicaid requirements for school-based claiming View self as a vital member of the instructional team, working together with both general/special education staff and parents/guardians Articulate support of the district's special education program

Salary Rate Range Minimum starting salary $43,500 BA and $46,000 MA. Salary commensurate with experience according to the BDEA salary schedule - full benefit package offered
