Job Title Instructor, Practical Nursing (PN Program)

Job Summary Licensed Practical Nursing faculty at Bethune-Cookman University are responsible for the development and implementation of the Licensed Practical Nursing Program. Faculty assist in the development, revision, and implementation of the curriculum, which is grounded in an evidence-based practice model. Faculty provide classroom teaching, supervise students in the laboratory and clinical settings, and administer standardized testing. Faculty persons also provide advisement to students, as well as mentorship throughout the matriculation process. Faculty are required to have knowledge of the unit, to be an integral part of the Nurse Faculty Committee, and to serve on standing committees. Faculty are also expected to maintain currency.
Duties/Responsibilities
Develop, manage, and teach classes, delivering instruction both individually and as a member of a team.
Supervise students in the clinical and laboratory settings.
Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for practical nursing courses.
Develop and coordinate curriculum and program syllabi.
Align program and course learning outcomes with course content.
Conduct assessments of all courses taught in the department as requested at the end of each semester.
Evaluate effectiveness of courses through student data, graduate surveys, and employer surveys.
Assist with developing yearly practical nursing budget.
Complete reports and requests for information from internal and external departments and agencies.
Ensure compliance with Florida Board of Nursing standards, rules regulations, and expectations.
Assist with and attend the Practical Nursing Advisory Board meetings.
Participate in School of Nursing and college committees/meetings as assigned.
Collaborate with colleagues on common curriculum areas.
Assists with recruitment, retention, and job placement efforts.
Assist with ordering and maintaining equipment and supplies.
Advise and register students.
Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences.
Follow policies/procedures of Bethune-Cookman University to include standards for student-faculty professional relationships/interaction.
Perform other duties as assigned.
