EZARC . We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Steel Erector to join our team on a commercial construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the assembly, installation, and erection of structural steel components, along with welding, rigging, and operating forklifts in a construction environment. This position requires strong technical expertise, a high commitment to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, physically demanding setting. Responsibilities
Steel Erection
Erect and assemble steel structures, including beams, columns, and girders, using cranes, hoists, and other heavy machinery. Ensure the accurate placement of steel structures according to blueprints and project specifications. Work in teams to lift, position, and secure steel pieces using rigging methods and equipment.
Welding
Perform welding tasks on steel components, including cutting, joining, and finishing as required by the project. Ensure all welding meets the required codes, standards, and specifications. Inspect welded joints for quality, strength, and structural integrity.
Rigging
Set up and operate rigging equipment to lift, move, and position steel materials and other heavy components. Work with the crane operator to ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials. Select and inspect rigging gear to ensure it is properly sized and in good condition.
Forklift Operation
Safely operate a forklift to move materials, tools, and equipment around the site. Load and unload steel components, ensuring materials are properly stored and organized for easy access. Conduct pre-operation safety checks on forklifts and report any maintenance issues.
Safety Compliance
Adhere to all safety standards and regulations, including OSHA guidelines, while performing tasks. Participate in daily safety briefings, report hazards, and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment. Wear and maintain required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Collaboration & Communication
Communicate clearly with supervisors and team members to ensure work is completed on schedule and according to plan. Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or issues to the Site Supervisor.
Qualifications
Experience
Minimum seven years of experience as a steel erector, welder, or in a similar construction role. Proven experience with rigging and using heavy lifting equipment on construction sites. Experience operating forklifts in a construction environment.
Certifications
Welding certification (e.g., AWS, or other recognized standards). Rigging certification (e.g., NCCCO or equivalent). Forklift certification (OSHA-compliant). [Optional: Other relevant certifications depending on the project].
Skills
Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and construction drawings. Strong knowledge of steel erection techniques, welding methods, and rigging procedures. Ability to use hand and power tools, as well as welding equipment. Strong understanding of safety protocols and risk mitigation on job sites.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (up to 50 lbs.). Comfortable working at heights, on scaffolding, and in various weather conditions. Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and squat for extended periods.
Other
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to the job site. Strong attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
