Base pay range $24.40/hr - $42.00/hr

Job Description In this position you will work as a member of IDIADA’s testing team supporting component tests. You will be responsible for test setup, electronic data acquisition and video/photo documentation.

Responsibilities

Run stationary in‑vehicle testing using crash test dummies and live human subjects (ranging from newborns to adults) to develop and validate in‑cabin‑radar occupant sensing technology

Perform retrofits to test vehicles to match desired configuration for testing. Mount, align, and calibrate in cabin radar sensors and associated instrumentation

Follow defined procedures for subject positioning, consent, and test repeatability to ensure high‑quality data collection. Maintain strict adherence to ethical and safety guidelines when working with human subjects

Document test results, compile into test reports. Collaborate with engineering teams to review test setups, provide feedback on system performance, and iterate test methods

Installation/removal of test fixtures, child seats, instrumentation, and other lab equipment, as required for the testing

Support lab improvement projects

Perform vehicle and test dummy measurements using a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM)

Qualifications

High School Diploma: two‑year technical degree or prior trade experience preferred

Proficient operation of computers and excellent Microsoft Office skills

Working knowledge of diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, soldering iron and multimeter

Ability to utilize various tools and measurement techniques

Ability to quickly adapt to changes in projects and a continuously evolving industry. Must be able to improvise

Must be a team player. Must be able to work within and across various company departments

Additional Information

Must have patience and ability to work with kids of all ages

Always operate and maintain a safe working environment for all personnel

Wide variety of experience diagnosing, repairing, and replacing passenger vehicle components, specifically sensors, wiring, and connectors

Ability to use computers effectively for diagnostics, data acquisition, and test reporting

Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and digital means

Proactive and flexible attitude, interested in learning new things and contributing to different areas as needed

Must have clean driving record and valid drivers license

High attention to detail, to ensure repeatable and reliable data collection

Ability to comfortably lift 50 lbs and get in and out of test vehicles, in order to retrofit parts, and position child seats and dummies

An Associate Degree in Engineering or Automotive Technology or Automotive OEM Test Technician Training and/or be able to demonstrate proficiency of relevant work experience

Must be able to travel back and forth from Fremont, CA to Palo Alto, Ca as needed
