Construction Manager – Conventional Generation

The Construction Manager – Conventional Generation is a full‑time, staff role that involves coordinating on‑site construction activities, monitoring safety, cost and quality, and ensuring compliance with the schedule and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate all on‑site subcontractor activities for compliance with the CPM schedule.
Implement the Project Construction Execution Plan and supervise superintendents, monitoring their activities and providing leadership.
Monitor and report construction productivity and schedule performance to the Site Manager and Field Project Controls Manager.
Take actions necessary to meet project budget and schedule requirements and direct the implementation of subcontractor schedule recovery plans.
Coordinate Construction Completion Walkdowns and the hand‑over of start‑up packages to the Startup Manager, and supervise the closeout of all punch list items.
Assist the Site Manager with client interface and relations; coordinate with the Field Material Manager to review all site‑procured materials for acceptance.
Perform periodic field audits with the Materials Manager to verify proper storage of owner‑supplied equipment.
Approve T&M construction contractor equipment and coordinate shared use of this equipment.
Participate in monthly contractor management meetings, conduct them if the Project Field Manager is unavailable, and lead weekly coordination meetings with subcontractors.
Manage weekly schedule and commodity installation status, and monitor all extra work authorization requests, backcharges, and supplier and subcontractor progress/final payment requests.
Adhere to Safety, Quality, Ethical Standards, Lessons Learned, and Performance Management programs in accordance with Division Policies, Standards, Guides, and Contractual commitments.
Respond to contractor Requests for Information (RFI), complete the construction punch list, and act as the Safety Representative on site in the absence of the regular Safety Supervisor.
Stand in for the Site Manager when required, and manage within the major commercial and deliverable terms of construction subcontracts.
Monitor and control overtime by subordinates and subcontractors, write construction portions of client and construction monthly reports, and coordinate with Field Engineers on engineering deliverables.
Manage construction Manufacturer’s Service Technicians and timesheet tracking, identify and assess improvement opportunities, and champion continuous improvement efforts.
Support change management effects associated with implementing improvements and encourage staff participation in continuous improvement activities.
Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of construction technology (Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, Circulating Fluidized Bed, Nuclear), EPC industry, constructability, project budget process and tools, project controls, risk assessment/management, administrative policies and procedures, Construction Project Management Systems, conceptual planning, conflict management, leadership, multi‑tasking, presentation, problem solving, project management, communication and meeting skills, time reporting systems, and expense reporting policies and procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or related field preferred, or relevant field experience.
14+ years construction supervisory experience required, with at least 3 years of previous construction manager experience.
OSHA Training.

Lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds.
Stand, kneel, bend, stoop, move, and walk long distances in confined, cluttered places, and uneven areas.

Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls according to procedure.
Perform repetitive movements.
May work above 5 feet in height.
Climb and maintain balance on steel framework, stairs, ladders, and scaffolds.
Work up to a 12‑hour shift doing hard physical labor in varying temperature extremes.
Work Environment
Typical construction site environment: cramped work spaces and awkward positions.
Very hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures; exposure to dust, wind, snow, rain, etc.
Extremely bright or low lighting conditions.
Exposure to distracting or uncomfortable sound and noise levels.
Work around hazardous equipment.
Typical office environment.
