The Grounds Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the planning, coordination, and supervision of all grounds maintenance activities across the school district. This includes overseeing the maintenance and beautification of lawns, landscaping, and related outdoor facilities to ensure a safe, clean, and aesthetically pleasing environment for students, staff, and visitors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or vocational training in horticulture, landscaping, or related field preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in grounds maintenance, including supervisory responsibilities.
Must possess a valid South Carolina Driver’s License
Supervisory and administrative skills are required
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate the work of grounds maintenance staff, including assigning tasks, setting schedules, and evaluating performance.
Plan and oversee the maintenance of district grounds, including lawn care, tree and shrub pruning, fertilizing, weed control, irrigation systems, snow removal, and pest control.
Inspect grounds and outdoor facilities regularly to ensure proper maintenance and compliance with safety standards.
Oversee the maintenance and operation of grounds equipment and tools, ensuring they are properly serviced and safe to use.
Develop and implement seasonal maintenance plans (e.g., winterization, spring planting).
Assist in preparing and managing the grounds maintenance budget, including procurement of supplies, equipment, and services.
Maintain records of maintenance schedules, pesticide use, equipment servicing, and staff assignments.
Coordinate with school administrators and maintenance personnel to address grounds-related concerns.
Respond to emergencies related to grounds (e.g., fallen trees, flooding, snow/ice conditions).
Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations related to landscaping, chemical applications, and safety.
