Summary of Job Duties The Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer performs transthoracic, exercise, and pharmacologic stress echocardiograms on adult patients using advanced imaging techniques, including M‑Mode, 2D, Doppler Color Flow, Spectral Doppler, and bubble studies.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma Plus graduation from an accredited Medical Sonography Program

Registered Diagnostic Sonographer

Preferred Qualifications:

Cardiac ultrasound experience, including treadmill and pharmacologic stress testing

Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) within one year of hire

Registry eligible and complete registration within one year of employment

Current CPR certification

Responsibilities

Sets up for and assists physician or licensed provider during procedures and examinations

Assists with transesophageal studies, including patient monitoring and equipment manipulation

Performs all required online and offline measurements, calculations, and velocities of acquired images

Recognizes distinct types of cardiac diseases and pathology

Immediately reports critical findings to the reading cardiologist(s)

Initiates IV access as needed according to UAMS policies and procedures

Utilizes and administers contrast (perflutren or bubble) per UAMS policies and documents correctly

Performs other duties as assigned
