Definition: The Physical Therapist (P.T.) provides therapy evaluation and services to qualified students, ages 3-22. S/he acts as a liaison between schools and agencies when medically related therapy is provided out-of-district.

Essential Functions: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, knowledge, skills, and other characteristics. This list of tasks is illustrative only and not comprehensive.)

Tasks:

Participate in pre-referral process to recommend general modifications and accommodations for regular education settings.

Obtain and relay information to and from parents and medical personnel regarding a student’s physical status and needs.

Conduct screenings and evaluations related to physical therapy needs.

Provide input to diagnostic and placement teams regarding P.T. evaluation and placements.

Develop therapy goals and objectives as part of the student’s I.E.P.

Design and implement activities to help a student meet I.E.P. goals.

Knowledge, Skills, and Characteristics: Thorough knowledge of physical therapy and special education requirements (federal and state regulations). Ability to work independently with high motivation, self-direction, and accountability.

Physical Requirements: Indoor work environment with frequent sitting, repetitive motion, monitoring vision, and lifting up to 15 pounds.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy.

Valid AZ IVP Fingerprint Clearance.

Arizona Physical Therapy License.

Experience in a school setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy or similar.

Arizona Physical Therapy License.

Experience working within the school setting.

Supervisory experience of 1-2 Physical Therapists and up to 4 Physical Therapist Assistants.

Fluency in both Spanish and English if required by district needs.

Days in Contract: 211
