Salary Range:
$33.67 – $41.82 – $53.23 per hour (base). Potential sign‑on bonus may be offered.
Summary Under the supervision of the Radiologist and according to established policies and procedures, the sonographer operates imaging equipment to obtain diagnostic images according to Radiologist specifications, assists the Radiologist in procedures as required, coordinates patient flow, supports protocol development, and performs all duties related to scanning and image processing for their assigned specialty.
Job Responsibilities
Demonstrate excellent customer service and maintain patient confidentiality.
Operate ultrasound equipment, adjust controls to obtain diagnostic images for abdominal, OB/GYN, trans‑vaginal, trans‑rectal, scrotal, thyroid, breast, and vascular studies.
Maintain knowledge of procedures, protocols, and cross‑sectional anatomy; recognize pathology within scope of practice.
Identify patient information using two identifiers; comply with National Patient Safety Goals.
Communicate with supervisors, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Maintain and troubleshoot imaging equipment; perform quality checks and keep rooms clean.
Notify the radiologist of immediate clinical findings; verify timely transfer of images to PACS.
Ensure compliance with JC, MQSA, and ACR regulatory requirements; participate in quality assurance activities.
Provide high‑quality exams, instruct patients, and maintain proficiency in all assigned modalities.
Minimum Requirements
Completion of an accredited sonography program.
Registered in at least one specialty through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
Preferred Work Experience
Outpatient or hospital setting experience.
Skills and Competencies
Proficiency with computer applications.
Strong verbal and written communication.
Ability to work independently and be self‑motivated.
Education High School Diploma (Required).
Certifications
Basic Life Support – American Heart Association.
Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer – American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
