Job Summary
Early Childhood Outpatient Clinician The Early Childhood Outpatient Clinician provides clinic-based therapy to children and their families presenting with a broad range of clinical diagnoses and needs. Most of the caseload will be comprised of families with young children. The Clinician will be integrated within an Early Childhood unit within the agency. Services provided include family therapy, parent skills training, risk assessments and crisis management, trauma-informed treatment, case management and advocacy. Participates in the development and implementation of treatment plans, modifies as appropriate during service. Services are provided in collaboration with DCF, schools, PCPs, and other community-based providers as needed. Clinicians attend weekly individual and group supervision, clinical rounds, and other department meetings. They participate as full members of the multidisciplinary clinical team and maintain clinical documentation according to licensing, accreditation, Medicaid/DCF, and best practice standards. They must maintain targets for client contact hours and work toward/maintain applicable licensure status. Training in an evidence-based early childhood treatment model is provided with support for use with identified clients and families. Key Responsibilities Direct services may include but are not limited to: conduct comprehensive clinical assessments and engagement; determine DSM V diagnosis in consultation with Supervisor and Medical Director or designated Psychiatrist as needed; develop and implement treatment plans and contracts; discharge planning with linkages to community services; provide case management; complete clinical documentation per agency, program policies, HIPAA, and funding sources; maintain productivity targets. Participate in Peer Consultation and Quality Assurance Reviews. Foster collaboration with clinical and administrative staff to respond to client and programmatic needs and implement agency policies and initiatives. Partner with other programs or clinical staff to address unmet client needs or service gaps. Acquire and maintain skills in evidenced-based models used by the agency/program. Identify professional growth plans with Supervisor and contribute to program functioning through special tasks or leadership in projects. Represent the Village in community groups or committees to support agency visibility and community linkages. Required Experience Education MSW or equivalent required with a minimum of 3 years' post-graduate clinical experience preferred. Clinical degree in social work, psychology, or other licensed-eligible counseling degree. LMSW or equivalent required and licensed eligible. Experience Must be able to function independently and seek guidance when necessary. Strong diagnostic, assessment and treatment skills for individual, family, and group therapy. Extensive experience with culturally diverse urban populations, a wide age range, and various clinical presentations; cultural competency to serve a diverse population. Knowledge of behavioral health, child welfare systems, and community resources. Ability to author professional/clinical reports and correspondence; to speak effectively before groups. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers; knowledge of DSM (current version in use). Good knowledge of a variety of therapeutic interventions and empirically validated models. Ability to maintain a professional, confidential work environment and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Ability to relate to children and families positively and maintain appropriate boundaries.
