Empower Pharmacy Position Summary The Laboratory Technician plays a critical role in supporting a variety of laboratory functions—including analytical testing, microbiological assessments, and research and development activities—within a highly regulated environment. This position ensures strict adherence to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) while executing high-quality testing procedures that contribute to product safety, efficacy, and compliance. Through cross-functional collaboration and technical excellence, the Laboratory Technician directly supports Empower’s mission to expand access to affordable, innovative medications that improve lives and promote long-term health outcomes.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts analytical, microbiological, or research and development sampling and support activities for raw materials, finished products, and environmental monitoring samples (air, water, surfaces, gases, etc.), in support of analyses such as endotoxin, sterility, growth promotion, microbial enumeration, identification, and antimicrobial effectiveness testing.
Assists with laboratory investigations, including root cause analysis for Out of Specification results, and implements appropriate corrective actions.
Accurately documents procedures, results, and observations in compliance with laboratory protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory standards—including cGMP—while also supporting data trending and performing general laboratory equipment maintenance.
Collaborates with cross-functional teams, communicates findings clearly, and contributes to research discussions, project meetings, and the development and validation of microbiological test methods.
Follows United States Pharmacopeia (USP) regulations, maintaining personal hygiene, garbing, and Personal Protective Equipment standards in sterile and nonsterile, hazardous and nonhazardous labs.
Physical and Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a stationary position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.

Experience And Qualifications
High school diploma or GED is required.
Some college education experience is preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of laboratory experience in pharmaceutical or compounding experience preferred.
