Surveying Technician Job Description
Assist in managing daily workload, including monitoring schedules and budgets. Perform QC/QA reviews of survey information such as raw field data, surveys, and ROW plans. Manipulate raw field data, perform surveying calculations, and prepare base mapping using surveying software. Coordinate with CADD Department and engineering design teams. Stay current on surveying law, procedures, equipment, and software. Visit project sites to collect or verify data. Work in the field as part of a survey crew if workload demands. Work on assignments at client sites as required. Requirements:
NJ and/or PA PLS license required; NY license is a plus. 5-10 years of progressive surveying experience in the transportation sector, including field work. Proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD, MS Word, and Excel. Proficiency with surveying software such as Trimble Business Center and Leica Infinity. Familiarity with NJ region transportation agencies' surveying and CADD standards. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Valid driver's license and clean driving record. Physically able to work outdoors and on construction sites under all weather conditions and carry survey equipment. Able to work overtime as required. Willing and able to travel for out-of-state assignments. Ability to obtain security clearance (SWAC, TWIC, etc.). Preferred Attributes and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Surveying, Surveying Engineering Technology, or equivalent. Experience in:
Right of Way Surveys and documents GIS Data Acquisition and Management Geodetic Survey/Use of GPS equipment Large point cloud data and data extraction Hydrographic Surveys Project Planning and Scoping
