Position Overview:
As our Mechanical Analyst, you will evaluate project designs, perform engineering calculations to support modeling activities, and collaborate with manufacturing to optimize and improve design efficiency. Location:
The position will be in the Lynchburg, VA Advanced Technologies Office. Your Day to Day as a Mechanical Analyst:
Provide technical project/task specific work including reviewing and self-performing activities. Perform component stress analyses to include ASME and NASA Standard based analyses. Analyze components using ANSYS. Interface with design and manufacturing personnel to optimize and fabricate designs. Utilize 3D CAD (ex. SolidWorks) to manipulate design models for analysis. Perform engineering calculations in support of design/modeling activities. Evaluate and suggest improvements to product designs. Evaluate and suggest improvements to quality related processes as it relates to 10 CFR 50 Appendix B and ASME NQA-1 Quality Assurance programs and design/drafting activities. Required Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace, or Structural) or physics is required. A minimum of four (4) years of experience in mechanical engineering/analysis is required. Must be proficient in ANSYS. Must be experienced in ASME Section III and Section VIII of the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. Must be familiar with NASA Standard 5012B. Must be able to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely written and verbal communication. Must be a strong team player with the ability to develop effective relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers. Must possess the ability and attitude to learn a variety of new procedures, processes, and tools. Must be able to effectively prepare and deliver technical calculations, reports, and presentations. Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required. What We Offer:
