The industrial electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment in a manufacturing environment. This position ensures that all electrical work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes and company standards, minimizing downtime and supporting continuous production operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, equipment, and controls (motors, drives, PLCs, lighting, distribution systems, etc.). Diagnose malfunctions using test equipment, technical manuals, and schematics. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems to reduce unplanned downtime. Read and interpret electrical blueprints, schematics, and diagrams. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components. Work with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and automation systems. Assist in equipment upgrades, modifications, and new installations. Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections. Adhere to lockout/tagout (LOTO), OSHA, NFPA 70E, and other electrical safety procedures. Collaborate with maintenance mechanics, engineers, and production staff to resolve issues and improve efficiency. Respond to emergency breakdowns and support continuous production operations. Qualifications
Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required; technical school or apprenticeship program preferred. Minimum 3–5 years of experience as an industrial or maintenance electrician in a manufacturing environment. State Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred (if applicable). Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong knowledge of electrical theory, NEC (National Electrical Code), and industrial electrical systems. Proficiency in troubleshooting electrical circuits, PLCs, and automation controls. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical manuals. Familiarity with preventive maintenance software and CMMS systems. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team environment. Excellent communication and documentation skills. Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, climb, and work in confined spaces for extended periods. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to work in noisy, hot, or cold manufacturing environments. Comfortable working at heights and on elevated platforms. Work Environment
Full-time, on-site in a manufacturing facility. May require overtime, weekend, and on-call work depending on production needs. Requires use of PPE (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.). Approval
