A Brief Overview Provides high quality, individualized, family‑centered care to pediatric patients in the transport environment. Care and transport of the acutely ill or injured patient is supported through the use of the Paramedic scope of practice in accordance with the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) standards and hospital policies and procedures. Varied schedules to include weekend and holiday patterns.

Essential Functions

Conducts individualized age‑specific patient/family assessments according to defined paramedic standards or protocols.

Collects and documents data related to patient’s individualized care.

Demonstrates age‑specific competency in assessment of patients and interprets information in terms of patient needs.

Assesses patient/family need for education and uses an individualized approach.

Reassesses patient data upon arrival and after interventions, communicating changes to transport partner, medical control physician (MCP), or family.

Provides safe driving of the ambulance according to US Department of Transportation and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration standards.

Utilizes lights and sirens as per Children’s policy adhering to standard safety practices.

Maintains response times within targeted benchmarks.

Maintains and checks transport equipment; cleans, stocks, and reports malfunctions.

Completes daily, weekly, monthly and ongoing equipment checklists and quarterly competencies.

Develops individualized patient/family plan of care using evidence‑based treatment orders.

Implements and evaluates actions in accordance with the individualized plan of care.

Demonstrates clinical competence in administering interventions according to age‑specific needs.

Documents accurately in the electronic medical record following transport documentation policy, completed within established timeframes.

Regular attendance at work is essential.

Perform physical requirements as described in the Physical Requirements section.

Adheres to Transport Fit for Duty policy.

Education Qualifications

Completion of a Paramedic Program (Required).

Completion of a Critical Care Paramedic program (Preferred).

Experience Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of ALS experience as a Paramedic (Required).

Minimum 1 year of experience with pediatric patients (Preferred).

Skills And Abilities

Must perform a variety of duties, often changing task types under stress while prioritizing.

Must work in environments including ambulance, helicopter, and airplane transport vehicles with exposure to non‑conventional motions, noise, vibration, fumes, and extreme heat/cold.

Licenses and Certifications

Paramedic – Licensed current and valid in Nebraska (Required).

National Registry Paramedic (Required).

BCLS – Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association (Required).

ACLS Upon Hire (Required).

NRP – Neonatal Resuscitation within 60 days (Required).

PALS – Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire (Required).

STABLE Course within 90 days (Required).

Pediatric Advanced Transport Course (PATC) within 1 year (Required).

Valid driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle driving record Upon Hire (Required).

Certified Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (CEVO) or Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC) within 30 days (Required).

Compliance with "fit for duty" policy with exception of weight limit.
