Responsibilities
Travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. You will organize and conduct occupational therapy programs tailored to each setting.
Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel per state licensure requirements.
Deliver rehabilitation services efficiently, adhering to the plan of care, department, and patient schedules, and documenting services promptly.
Attend and contribute to patient care, staffing conferences, and related meetings.
Make referrals to other disciplines and agencies to address comprehensive patient needs.
Consult with the rehabilitation team to select appropriate therapeutic regimens consistent with patient capabilities.
Adapt programs and plans of care to individual patient needs.
Promote a safe environment and enforce elimination of fire and safety hazards.
Order supplies and equipment as needed; maintain and report repairs.
Ensure patients and families receive the highest quality of service in a caring atmosphere.
Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, appropriate tests and measures, and interpretation of findings to establish diagnosis, identify impairments, predict improvement, and plan care. Collaborate with patients and caregivers to develop treatment goals, implement the OT treatment plan, and complete documentation.
Provide therapeutic techniques in areas such as:
Cognitive skills
Muscle strength
Coordination
Endurance
Mobility
Perceptual abilities
Sensory awareness
Sitting and standing tolerance
Balance
Activities of daily living
Joint protection
Work simplification
Orientation
Physical agent modalities
Design, fabricate, fit, and apply adaptive devices and train patients in their use (orthotics and prosthetics).
Select activities suited to individuals’ physical and mental capacity, intellectual level, and interests.
Instruct patients in functional activity skills and evaluate progress, attitudes, and behavior.
Perform routine reexaminations as needed to modify or progress the treatment plan.
Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in an occupational therapy curriculum accredited by ACOTE standards.
Initial registration from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy.
Valid and unencumbered occupational therapy license in the state of practice.
Availability to travel to and temporarily reside in locations outside the therapist’s primary home.
Posted Salary Range: USD $55.00 - $70.00 /Hr.
