The Nurse Manager for Operating Theatre (OT) is primarily responsible for the smooth and effective operations ensure that the department works in alignment with the goal set by the hospital. As the Nurse Manager, you will play a key role in coaching, provide nursing leadership, cost management, identify areas of improvements, staff development and plans for nurses’ career progression.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Overseeing the smooth and cost-effective running of the department, including projecting for new equipment, managing manpower and staff-patient ratios, ensuring cleanliness, and preparing duty rosters.

Performing administrative duties such as controlling internal documents, providing supervisory support, maintaining confidentiality, organizing department meetings, and attending assigned meetings and committees.

Planning and supervising the orientation program for new staff, ensuring high-quality nursing care, and taking responsibility for patient welfare and safety.

Ensuring adherence to OT standards and SOPs, providing reassurance to patients and their families, handling complaints, and implementing infection control policies.

Auditing patient case notes and nursing documentation, maintaining equipment, assisting in research and development of nursing practices, evaluating staff training requirements, and conducting staff appraisals.

Secondary Duties & Responsibilities

Assisting in practical nursing procedures and documentation, supporting doctors in OT procedures, participating in in-service education programs, and collating monthly data for presentation.

Performing night duty and weekend coverage as required, responding to emergencies, and carrying out any other ad-hoc duties assigned.

Job Requirements

At least an Advanced Diploma/Degree in Nursing

A Registered Nurse with Singapore Nursing Board

At least 10 years of post-graduate clinical experience in the Operating Theatre with minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience

Strong decision-making abilities in nursing and administrative matters

Ability to motivate and lead nursing staff and foster continuous professional development among team members
