Position:
Sterile Processing Technician
Duration:
3 months contract
The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for the decontamination, assembly, sterilization, and maintenance of surgical instruments and equipment, ensuring every item meets the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection control.
Base pay range $28.50/hr - $30.50/hr
Responsibilities
Follow all ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer IFUs, SOPs, and company guidelines.
Safely decontaminate surgical instruments using proper PPE and protocols.
Disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble complex instruments.
Accurately assemble and package trays/sets per specifications.
Operate washers, sterilizers, and related equipment safely.
Inspect instruments for cleanliness, function, and damage.
Report and document missing or damaged items.
Maintain accurate records for sterilization, tracking, and inventory.
Handle all items carefully to prevent damage.
Complete daily computer tasks and documentation.
Monitor and restock inventory as needed.
Clean and maintain sterilization equipment regularly.
Keep workstations clean and organized.
Follow infection control and quality standards.
Communicate clearly with team and other departments.
Suggest workflow improvements and provide feedback.
Participate in training to stay certified and skilled.
Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.
Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on experience in sterile processing, demonstrating proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
Skills:
Knowledge of surgical instruments, sterilization, and infection control.
Familiar with ANSI/AAMI standards and IFUs.
Skilled in using washers, autoclaves, and related equipment.
Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.
Able to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
Follows instructions and SOPs accurately.
Basic computer and data entry skills.
Good communication and teamwork.
Meets health and vaccination requirements.
Reliable, professional, and improvement-focused.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification as a Sterile Processing Technician (e.g., CRCST, CIS).
