Bowling Green, KY Our Expectations
As a PT at this facility, we prefer someone with neurodevelopmental and DME experience, as this makes up a large majority of the caseload. The caseload includes children with genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, brain injuries, extreme prematurity, and other diagnoses that come with accompanying physical disabilities. The children range from NICU-discharged infants to young adults in wheelchairs. You must be comfortable treating this wide range of population. This facility emphasizes interdisciplinary collaboration; you must work well with ST, OT, ABA, nurses, caregivers, etc., and be comfortable with basic medical terminology and processes. Some children have behavior issues; you must be confident in therapeutic intervention for unique cases and in managing disruptive behaviors. We operate on a fee-for-service basis, paying for hours billed face-to-face. You have schedule flexibility but must be hardworking, self-motivated, and efficient with time management. We value an easy-going personality, quick on your feet, passion for helping children with special needs, and openness to learning. Responsibilities
Assess and diagnose developmental, congenital, neurological, and musculoskeletal disorders for clients ages birth to 21. Develop individualized treatment plans after a comprehensive evaluation to address clients’ strength and mobility difficulties. Utilize evidence-based practices in therapy sessions, including: Therapeutic exercises for strength, flexibility, endurance Neuromuscular re-education to improve motor control Manual therapy for joint mobility and tissue flexibility Gait training and balance activities Use of adaptive equipment or assistive devices Complete documentation (evaluations, treatment notes, LMNs) in a timely, thorough manner. Supervise PTAs when necessary. Educate clients, families, and caregivers on carry-over strategies at home. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and fellow therapists to coordinate comprehensive care for clients. Stay current with advancements in the field through continuing education and professional development activities. Adhere to ethical and professional standards outlined by the APTA. Qualifications
Possession of a master’s or doctorate degree in physical therapy from an accredited program and state licensure from the Department of Health. Clinical pediatric experience; medical pediatric population strongly preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams. Proficiency using standardized assessment tools, therapeutic interventions, and assistive technologies relevant to the field. Commitment to maintaining professional competency and adhering to HIPAA policies and ethical standards. Current CPR (BLS) certificate. Benefits
