Lead Building Engineer - Prince George's County Monday-Friday | $130,000/year

SUMMARY This position is responsible for the operations, maintenance and building repair of boiler and auxiliary boiler room equipment, heating, lighting, ventilating, air conditioning, power refrigeration, building electrical and pneumatic controls, water treatment, and other mechanical and electrical equipment. This position reports to the Chief Engineer.

CLASSIFICATION NON-EXEMPT

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES

Controls the daily operation of all mechanical equipment in the physical plant and buildings

Performs maintenance and repairs to the Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Structural, Furniture, Fire, Life Safety, and Control systems for the facility to keep these systems up to applicable standards

Monitors operations and maintains refrigeration, water cooling and air conditioning equipment, boilers, heating, ventilating and hot water equipment, pumps, valves, piping and filters, other mechanical and electrical equipment, changing light bulbs and ballasts

Performs advanced troubleshooting of Building Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems with little or no supervision.

Performs and/or completes all tenant service requests accurately and with minimal disruptions.

Maintains maintenance logs and records.

Performs preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.

Complies with all policies and procedures established for the building.

Ability to work long hours occasionally and some weekends

Actively participates in emergency response procedures, technical and safety training programs.

Performs all work using the proper safety equipment and in a safe manner

Other duties as assigned

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS

Follows all safety procedures

No unscheduled downtime occurs that could have been detected during routine maintenance

Follows maintenance and testing schedules

Majority of the users say the temperature is comfortable

Takes the extra time and care to make sure the job looks good, is easy to maintain later and isn’t likely to have problems.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

5+ years of experience maintaining equipment and systems in commercial or government buildings

High school diploma or GED. Formal vocational/technical training in maintenance/mechanical/electrical related work.

Demonstrated working knowledge of engineering and building systems

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS

Must be licensed and be able to conform to all city, state, and federal licensing and certification requirements.

Universal CFC certification

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Familiarity with computers and office automation applications

Familiarity with preventative maintenance and work order software systems.

Strong customer service

Demonstrated mechanical ability skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team

Must be able to obtain a US Government clearance

Regularly required to walk long distances and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 lbs.
