Technologist III/ Mechanical Technician

at the Niagara Falls Service Center, NY. This role involves the overall maintenance of mechanical equipment and systems, as well as some fabrication. It requires sound technical abilities in compressor maintenance and other rotating equipment, with training provided in site-specific applications. The ideal candidate must demonstrate initiative, be self-motivated, and dependable, working with minimal supervision during field trips. Good communication skills are essential for addressing challenges. Availability for after-hours calls from plant operations personnel is also required. Primary Responsibilities: Maintain all Safety, Quality, and Compliance activities at each customer installation performing site inspections or site maintenance. Installation, start-up, and decommissioning of high-pressure and acetylene supply systems (compressors, purifiers, filling manifold, etc.). Coordinate and perform routine preventive and corrective maintenance on a variety of process equipment including centrifugal and reciprocating compressors. Monitor the availability of parts and replenish supplies, as well as manage physical inventory control. Troubleshoot mechanical malfunctions and breakdowns, performing necessary repairs. Oversee location Contractor Safety Program. Oversee location's Process Safety Mechanical Integrity Program. Assist in the development and review of standard operating procedures. Utilize hand and portable power tools following safe working practices during equipment repair and maintenance. Advise management regarding equipment life and usage, and assist in researching new equipment purchases. Ensure operations technicians understand and follow safe working practices during equipment repair and maintenance. Coordinate and oversee the movement of materials and equipment as required. Salary Range:

$27.00 - $35.00, depending on experience. Skills and Abilities: Dependable, collaborative, and a team player. Commitment to safety and compliance with Linde procedures and regulations. Strong organization and time management skills. Troubleshooting and diagnostics capabilities. Maintenance and repairs expertise. Understanding of processes and ability to interpret process control schematics. Proficient in Microsoft applications (Outlook and Excel). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Self-directed learning. Working Conditions: Ability to drive a service (pickup) truck for typically 2 to 3 hours and up to 8 hours on specific occasions. Perform office work requiring sitting at the computer and other administrative duties. Walk on flat or uneven surfaces and in areas of crushed stone daily. Bend, stoop, and work from ground level to 6-foot elevation. Use stairs and ladders for elevated work. Lifting 5 to 15 lbs. loads daily; lifting 15 to 45 lbs. loads intermittently; lifting over 45 to 75 lbs. occasionally. Engage in upper body work activities, including using wrenches, hammers, and similar tools. Use power tools such as drills and jackhammers. Normal work week of 8 hours a day, 5 days a week with on-call responsibilities during off hours. Qualifications: Bachelor of Science or Associate Degree in a technical field preferred; High School diploma required. Certification in welding techniques required. Clean driving record required in the last 2 years. 2+ years’ experience in an operations environment preferred, specifically in: Package gases or similar operations. General maintenance of industrial equipment with emphasis on compressors. Military technical fields (Machinist Mates, Gas Turbine Technicians, etc.). 3+ years of equipment maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing setting preferred. Knowledge of OSHA Process Safety Management Program elements including Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, and Operating Procedure Elements. Knowledge of high-pressure piping systems preferred. Knowledge of cryogenic pumps and systems preferred.
