Overview
The dimensional control plan group engineer is responsible for vehicle’s dimensional measurement plans (BIW + EBO BIW) to ensure datum/ tolerance (defined by engineering teams) / measurements coordination from details to final vehicle to protect customer perceiving satisfaction. This team interfaces with multi cross-functional teams from design to component center and plant floor to assure an efficient and appropriate measurement plan developed in addition to support the launch activities and maintain current programs. Also, the team is connected with all dimensional teams to coordinate dimensional planning phase.
Responsibilities
Develops critical part list, EBO planes model, measurements control plans for new launched programs for Body Shop, Stamping Plants and Suppliers.
Share/buy off Control Plan strategy for new models with Plant Component Center and ME
Design standard statistical reports to be used by the Plant and Suppliers).
Develops the “Product Geometry Tree” (matrix linking body geometry features to EBO features) by X1
Measurement strategy validation (Control Plan, Measurement Programs and holding fixtures) for new models in Plant Component Center and support for changes from X1 to J1
Manages the measurement plan according to product changes.
Maintains measurements control plans for the existed vehicle programs (checking and inserting CP changes proposed by the Plant)
Supports plants in root causing dimensional issues. (mainly during launch phases up to J1)
Supports for production tooling design review; parts buy off from suppliers, tooling repeatability test. (NA only, EMEA assigned to Manufacturing Engineering)
Helps in development and roll-out of training material.
