Job Title: CNC Machinist
Overview LoneStar Fasteners is a leading manufacturer and stocking distributor for SAE, ASTM and ISO fasteners. We offer in-house machining, plating and coating services, and have extensive expertise across Sales, Manufacturing and Coating for diverse industries.
Responsibilities
Comply with all company policies and procedures including Health, Safety and Quality Assurance policies.
Report injuries, accidents, near misses or unsafe conditions to a Supervisor or Manager immediately.
Read blueprints or job orders for product and job specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts, tooling instructions, or other written specifications.
Set up machines, observe operation, and inspect first run and sample work pieces to ensure machining conforms to specifications; determine processing specifications such as materials, location of cutting lines, dimensions, tolerances and operational sequences.
Perform program editing (speed, feed, tools, etc.) on Fanuc 18i control, Okuma OSP and Mazak.
Examine finished work pieces and verify conformance to quality standards.
Mark identification material if needed; store material for additional processing and/or shipping.
Accurately complete work order paperwork/documentation.
Perform routine and preventative machine maintenance and inspections as required.
Assist other machine operators to set up machines, stack, mark, pack, and transport finished work pieces.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of related experience and/or training on CNC setup and operation. 1 year experience preferred but not required in basic programming, editing, setup and operation of CNC machines for precision parts with experience on Doosan, Okuma, Mazak or Swiss machines with Fanuc controls a plus.
Skills and Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED; Associate’s degree preferred.
Ability to pass a basic reading, math, measurement, parts matching and counting test.
Good communication skills both written and verbal.
Ability to read, understand, interpret and follow detailed work instructions and manufacturing specifications.
Ability to use multiple measurement tools (OD micrometers, calipers, PD micrometers).
Ability to adjust to changes without compromising quality or performance.
Must be able to work a shift schedule and overtime as needed, including weekends.
Attention to detail.
Work Schedule
2nd shift general work schedule: 4:00 pm to 2:30 am.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for the duration of scheduled shift.
Moderate physical effort handling parts; ability to lift up to 50 lbs repetitively.
Specific vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Manual dexterity with hands, fingers, and arms to push, pull, reach, grab, hold, lift, and hammer.
Continuous mental and visual attention for cleaning and diversified duties requiring constant alertness or activity.
Work Environment
Manufacturing environment with multi-step production runs on different machines; high-value, highly customized components and high-precision manufacturing for critical service applications.
Noise Level: Moderate to High.
Temperature varies with season.
