Our ADAS Compute hardware team develops technologies like Super Cruise Hands-Free Automated Driving to enhance vehicle safety, performance, and autonomy. We are building a hardware engineering team to own the end-to-end design and development of GM’s vehicle displays hardware. The Senior Hardware Design Engineer – Display Development will be responsible for the technical design and development of the new display electronics hardware platform for GM’s next generation vehicles. The role requires experience in automotive ECU architecture, design, and analysis, and a track record of successfully launching infotainment hardware into production. Responsibilities

Design of LCD/OLED display electrical hardware: MCU, TCON, SERDES, component selection, schematic capture, worst-case analysis, PCB layout, bring-up, debug, signal integrity and power integrity (SI/PI), design verification tests (environmental and EMC), and manufacturing support for production launch Design and development of the display hardware platform from concept to launch, meeting cost, timing, quality, and safety targets Deep understanding of the display backlight unit and interfacing with the display electrical hardware for final assembly Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, mechanical, manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration of the display hardware Work with contract manufacturing partners to ensure successful product builds from prototype to mass production Electrical schematic design and PCB layout Support new IC design/development related to new display designs Perform hardware analyses (worst-case, SI, PI) Lead bring-up of hardware design including power supplies, SoCs, MCUs, SerDes, and network interfaces Lead DFx activities (DFM, DFA, DFT) and drive testing and validation of hardware Develop test plans and protocols to validate designs against requirements; troubleshoot and perform root-cause analysis Support manufacturing partners in debugging production issues Conduct design reviews and provide constructive feedback; lead DFMEA/PFMEA for display hardware Provide guidance to Design Release Engineers Requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred 5+ years of experience in electronic hardware design with a focus on display hardware and automotive hardware electronics Proven experience launching display build-to-print hardware into production Experience designing display hardware/components such as MCUs, TCON, GMSL, FPD-Link, and power supply design Strong proficiency in circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, SI/PI, and power management Experience with design and analysis tools (Mentor Graphics, Ansys, Simplis, Altair, Mathcad, PSpice, Saber) Knowledge of requirements engineering (FMEA, Preliminary Hazard Analyses) and verification/validation processes Experience with embedded software development, testing, and related tools Understanding of hardware design and failure modes; familiarity with DFx practices Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to lead complex projects in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment Compensation

The salary range mentioned is $131,000 to $202,000; actual base salary offered will vary based on factors relevant to the position. Bonus potential: incentive program based on company, job level, and individual performance.
