CNC Milling Machinist
We are looking for a highly skilled CNC Milling Machinist. This position involves setting up and operating CNC milling machines to produce precision components from cast materials, ensuring adherence to tight tolerances and quality standards.
This role requires accuracy, patience, and strong understanding of machining strategy on cast surfaces and irregular stock.
This is not an entry-level position. We're looking for someone who knows the work, respects the material, and takes pride in quality.
Key Responsibilities
Machine various steel castings on CNC milling machines (3 & 4 axis)
Set up and fixture cast parts, including locating irregular surfaces
Read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and casting datums
Perform roughing, semi-finishing, and finishing operations
Inspect own work using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges)
Work with QC and programmers to ensure correct setups, sequences, and tolerances
Detect and correct runtime issues (chatter, tool wear, offsets, etc.)
Maintain clean, organized work area and support shop discipline standards
Requirements
5+ years machining castings (required)
Experience with cast aluminum and/or steel workpieces
CNC milling experience required; manual work a plus
Strong blueprint reading & GD&T knowledge
Ability to set datums and clock cast edges correctly
Skilled in fixturing parts with irregular surfaces
Ability to hit tight tolerances and inspect own work
Reliable, team-oriented, and takes pride in work
U.S. work authorization
