What You’ll Do Design and Development
Develop design specifications and conceptualize new mechanical systems.
Collaborate with design engineers to complete detailed designs and drawings.
Review existing systems and recommend improvements for performance and reliability.
Prepare and verify engineering documentation, analyses, and calculations.
Analysis and Testing
Perform engineering analyses including stress, strain, heat transfer, vibration, and thermal dynamics.
Design and execute test procedures to validate components and assemblies.
Apply first-principles and analytical methods to confirm expected performance.
Conduct design and production readiness reviews to ensure project integrity.
Collaboration and Support
Interface with project managers, technical teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
Partner with sourcing and manufacturing teams to support cost-reduction initiatives.
Address emergent design or production issues in a timely and effective manner.
Support procurement, documentation, and manufacturing processes.
Process and Productivity
Develop and refine engineering procedures and productivity tools.
Define technical scope, review outcomes, and assess project risks.
Work closely with the Mechanical Engineering Manager to align on priorities, deliverables, and timelines.
What You’ll Bring
U.S. Citizenship (required) — eligibility for NRC “Q” or DOE security clearance.
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Strong understanding of mechanical design principles, GD&T, drafting practices, and CAD tools.
Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems and produce well-documented analyses.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.
Self-starter mindset with initiative and accountability.
Preferred Qualifications
Active DOE/NRC Q-clearance or DOD Top Secret clearance.
Experience in the nuclear industry or other regulated environments.
Familiarity with ANSYS, Comsol, or similar simulation software.
Integration and test experience.
Background in vibration analysis, FEA, and thermal systems.
Important Note This role requires the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Q-Clearance, as well as ongoing eligibility for access to controlled facilities.
