at Tradepoint Atlantic, LLC. Location: Sparrows Point, MD. The position reports to the SVP, Facilities Manager and works with other electricians and utilities team members. Interaction with contractors/sub-contractors may be required. Overview
Safely and efficiently perform electrical labor in an industrial construction environment with existing and new buildings and infrastructure. Responsibilities
Installs and repairs electrical wiring, systems, fixtures in buildings or other electrically powered equipment. Installs conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables. Ensures completed work complies with electrical codes. Installs circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them. Connects electrical systems to powerlines to provide electricity to buildings. Tests electrical systems to ensure proper installation and operation. Inspects electrical systems to determine whether repairs are needed. Replaces conduit and wiring as needed. Replaces circuit breakers as needed. Troubleshoot and perform specialized maintenance on equipment including insulation, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and lighting. Locate defective motor components using proper test equipment (meters). Maintain and repair electrical components on gear pullers, presses, and crane motors. Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools. May repair electrical locks and control panels to maintain building security systems. Obtain estimates for supplies and repair parts for purchasing. Update project records and prepare relevant documents and reports when necessary. Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair transformers. Perform routine preventive maintenance and inspections on electrical systems, heating and air systems, pumps, and rotating equipment (compressors, mixers, crushers, and screens). Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions on live electrical systems as needed. Plan new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and ensure safe, reliable wiring in compliance with specifications and local electrical codes. Measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduits. Splice wires and solder wires and other electrical components. Install control apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit breaker panels. Connect power cables to single phase and three phase equipment and install proper grounding leads. Test continuity of circuits to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components. Observe functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments or replacement. Perform medium voltage switching (480 - 6900 - 15,000, 34,000 kV). Motor testing and control circuit testing/troubleshooting. PLC programming. Repair faulty equipment or systems as needed. Assist as needed with general plant maintenance. Provide guidance and technical assistance regarding specific job functions on an ongoing basis. Use equipment such as a two-way radio, battery charger and cables, air tank, power and hand tools, welder, and forklift. Submit applications for new and revised permits. Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. Required Skills/Abilities
Ability to read and understand blueprints, circuit diagrams, and sketches. Extensive knowledge of electrical systems and wiring. Familiar with industry codes and regulations, and NEMA ratings. Ability to use hand tools and power tools. Proficient in the use of test meters and other diagnostic equipment. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and other software preferred. Maintain a clean work area.
