Job Description Overview This role supports the Vehicle Systems Product Interface Team and will provide a consistent voice of Manufacturing to Product Engineering for a given global architecture/style. In this job you will represent Manufacturing while interfacing with Product Engineering and the program team. Review designs and assess the assembly methods of these designs to ensure they drive common processes and meet Manufacturing Requirements while innovating to minimize labor and complexity impacts to the plants. Analyze the overall impact to GM and make the best enterprise decisions to help set the direction for a program. Support meetings with Product Engineering and be the voice of manufacturing. Conduct and assess dynamic and static studies, virtual reality reviews, process virtual builds, assess ergonomic impacts, support prototype builds and many others to ensure designs meet manufacturing requirements and are buildable to our standard processes.

Responsibilities

Analyze product designs and collaborate with Product Engineering to incorporate manufacturing requirements

Communicate product information & requirements to Product Interface Leads and Program Execution Manufacturing Engineers

Enforce compliance to General Assembly strategies

Verify Vehicle Manufacturing Requirements are met or execute deviation approval process

Track issues, elevate appropriately to leadership when necessary, and document deviations

Lead resolution of issues with Product Engineering and with Global Manufacturing Engineering partners

Conduct virtual studies/assessments throughout Vehicle Development Process

Support program Level 2 PFMEA workshops

Initiate / Conduct program Level 2 PFMEA workshops

Participate in Product Engineering peer reviews (ePeer Process)

Participate in Component Readiness Reviews (CRV process)

Document process & tooling requirements for regional execution and ensure compliance by all executing assembly plants

Drive product designs with the lowest Base Engineered Content (BEC) and participate in BEC reduction workshops

Develop & communicate program compartment level 2 build sequence

Identify and communicate potential ergo issues to program ergonomist

Attend and support IVER and/or PTB builds (mandatory in person) and Assembly Plant builds (as needed)

Act as IRT co-chair during IVER and/or PTB builds at Pre-Production Facility

Act as the Global Issue Resolution Team (IRT) co-chair and drive common solutions across the regions of build

Required Skills, Abilities and Experiences

2+ years of experience working in manufacturing engineering or 5 years of experience in Product Engineering in propulsion systems, chassis or suspension design

Experience working on a program launch with assembly plants preferably with General Assembly/Final Assembly

Self‑motivated and autonomous achiever

Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)

Ability to make complex concepts/issues easily understood

Strong VIS Mockup skills or ability to learn software tools quickly

Qualifications

Experience in ME Execution, Tooling, and General Assembly Plant Knowledge or Product Engineering in propulsion systems, chassis or suspension design

GM Systems including: MPS, VAA, ECR/EDGE, Auros, FIT, Momentum (GVDP), PRTS, LMS

Experience in Exterior Trim, Chassis, Powertrain, or Interior Trim systems

Knowledge of Virtual Simulation (VS) Manufacturing Engineering processes and Teamcenter

Optional Skills, Abilities and Experiences

Experience with electrical harnesses, Components, Software, End of Line Electrical program/debug is major benefit

Red X, DFSS, and/or OpEx capabilities

Industrial Engineering experience
