Process Engineer 1 at
Quanta Manufacturing Nashville . This role involves end-to-end processes related to CCBU operation, developing processes and identifying equipment to establish best-in-class manufacturing operations, and defining routings, physical and systemic process flows. The Engineer is responsible for the identification, evaluation, selection, procurement, and qualification of equipment utilized in the CCBU Operation. Develop and implement process improvements to improve product and process quality, output, cycle time, productivity, and equipment downtime. Support new product introduction and processes into production. Develop the process for the introduction of new products and changes to operations. Resolve daily production issues with short and long-term solutions. Identify and implement new methods or equipment aimed at improvements in yields, turnaround time, reliability and costs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leads physical and systemic process improvement projects including directing project teams to support continuous process improvements. Includes but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing implementation, DOE. Responsible for process control and support for service and repair area. Evaluate current process and develop and implement process improvements on an ongoing basis to ensure optimal efficiency and quality. Validate and test process effectiveness and improvements through engineering techniques, design of experiments, data analysis and statistical analysis. Provide leadership in customer quality and efficiency efforts by working with support teams to improve cycle times and reduce defects. Develop proven flows and operator work instructions. Perform Cost Analysis and provide Cost Improvement ideas for production and service areas. Ability to perform Time Studies across all areas. Train appropriate personnel in processes, procedures and instructions. Continuous Improvement – drive quality, productivity, scrap reduction, and other cost reduction efforts through process improvement initiatives. Problem solving – investigate and recommend solutions for production, service and product-related quality, manufacturing or process issues. Utilizes technology to improve, streamline and automate manufacturing processes. Plan, implement, set up and monitor equipment used to automate manufacturing processes. Develop and design automation concepts, choosing and programming a controller and ensuring proper communication between actuators connected to the controller. Simulate, install, test and manage electrical or mechanical automation and monitor automation processes ongoing. Develop measures of process control. Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures. Document production processes. Identify process capabilities and limitations and make recommendations and implement process improvements. Investigate and quantify the manufacturability and serviceability of new and existing products. Work with product development engineers during and after product introduction to improve product performance. Troubleshoot and solve various manufacturing and service problems. Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or related engineering field and 2 years of manufacturing, process or industrial engineering experience with automated assembling equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience. PC skills including Windows, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, AutoCAD or related software. Other Skills and Abilities
Must possess strong leadership skills and be able to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of management and employees. Must be a team player capable of working efficiently under minimal supervision. Ability to function and execute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Small component electro/mechanical manufacturing experience is a plus. Occasional travel, sometimes to Asia, is required. Knowledge of development and improvement of work processes related to electro-mechanical assemblies is a plus. Knowledge of design and implementation of engineering experiments.
