Diesel Fleet Mechanic Technician III - Sign on bonus for New Hires: up to $7,500 Overview
To provide safe, reliable and cost-efficient vehicles by performing quality preventive maintenance inspections and repairs as well as providing expert diagnosis and repair as required to prevent breakdowns on road, reduce vehicle downtime and improve total fleet reliability. Responsibilities
Perform required inspections and preventive maintenance on vehicles and equipment within planned time tolerances to maximize safety, reliability, and cost efficiency throughout the fleet life cycle. Perform FAI/CVI (Annual) inspections on all fleet vehicles (tractors, trailers, converter dollies, light-duty vehicles, and other company-owned equipment) in accordance with all federal, state and local agencies, including all state-required inspections and frequencies. Perform quality preventive maintenance inspections on all fleet vehicles per company methods (tractors, trailers, converter dollies, refrigeration units, lift-gates, light-duty vehicles, and other equipment). Perform preventive maintenance, diagnosis and repair to refrigeration units (Reefer) and other systems to maximize safety and reliability. Address Driver Vehicle Inspection Report write-ups in a timely and efficient manner. Diagnose causes of malfunctions and perform repairs to manufacturer specifications, including engines, transmissions and clutches, drive-line, differential, steering and suspension, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust systems, intake systems, electrical systems, brake systems, HVAC systems and lift-gate systems. Follow procedures and document all work performed on work orders. Mentor and assist Fleet Technician I and II to aid in development to higher responsibility roles. May perform moderate supervisory duties when Fleet Manager or Fleet Supervisors are not accessible. Proficient in electrical meter testing; knowledge of controls and electric DC low voltage; DC motor knowledge; complete electrical repairs and welding projects as needed. Qualifications
Education
High school diploma or GED required Current and valid driver's license (CDL preferred, not required) Experience
Medium/Heavy Duty truck technical training 2-year school and 4 years of experience OR 5 years of experience in fleet maintenance and repair Certifications, Licenses and/or Registrations
Annual Inspector Certification Brake Inspector Certification ASE certifications for Automotive or Medium/Heavy Duty Trucks EPA Section 608 (Core & Type II) and 609 HVAC & Refrigeration Certification Physical Demands
Regularly use hands and fingers, operate a computer and manual tools; lift up to 100 lbs occasionally; varied movement including standing, walking, climbing, reaching, bending and kneeling. Frequent outdoors work; driving and shop environment with potential exposure to fumes, heat, cold and noise. Working Conditions
Non-traditional hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and on-call; potential travel to other operating locations as needed. Benefits
