About the Role V-1 Consulting is seeking a Project Manager to join our Baggage Handling Systems Team in Tampa, FL. This role involves leading the end-to-end project lifecycle for Baggage Handling System (BHS) installations and upgrades, ensuring projects meet scope, schedule, and budget targets. Key responsibilities include defining project baselines, enforcing the Change Management process, managing vendor contracts, and proactively mitigating risks. You must possess strong stakeholder management and negotiation skills to resolve conflicts and provide transparent updates to clients and contractors.

Key Responsibilities Project Ownership & Lifecycle Management

Lead the end-to-end project lifecycle for Baggage Handling System (BHS) installations and upgrades, ensuring all scope, objectives, and deliverables are consistently met on time and within budget.

Define, execute, and rigorously maintain all project baselines. This includes developing detailed Scope of Work (SOW) documents, creating and tracking master schedules (using industry-standard tools), and comprehensive budget management.

Proactively identify, quantify, and mitigate project risks (technical, schedule, and financial) to safeguard project stability. Establish and enforce rigorous Quality Assurance (QA) protocols to verify deliverables against established BHS standards and project requirements.

Capable of concurrently leading multiple small-to-medium routine projects with full responsibility, and/or serving as a key Assistant Project Manager on large-scale, technically complex BHS installations.

Technical Execution

Mandate and execute the Change Management process (CCB) for all deviations from the baselined scope, schedule, or budget. This includes detailed justification, documentation, and executive-level reporting of all cost and time impacts.

Oversee all aspects of vendor and subcontractor procurement and contract management, including defining necessary project resources and managing performance against contractual agreements.

Must possess demonstrable knowledge in executing and creating essential project components, including writing technical scope documents, developing integrated schedules, and justifying project expenses through formal financial controls.

Stakeholder Management

Proactively manage all client and stakeholder expectations, providing transparent, clear, and timely project status reports and progress updates to all levels of management (Client, Airport Authorities, Contractors).

Possess exceptional interpersonal skills necessary to facilitate difficult discussions, resolve conflicts, and drive consensus toward a mutually agreed-upon solution. Must demonstrate strong negotiation skills when dealing with vendors, subcontractors, and clients regarding scope and change orders.

Responsible for maintaining project velocity by demonstrating superior organizational skills and the ability to drive and track all action items and commitments across internal and external project teams.

Required Qualifications Experience and Education

A minimum of 4 years of experience in project management within the construction industry.

Thorough knowledge of utility-scale construction projects, including feasibility, estimating, and scheduling.

Demonstrated knowledge of construction, engineering, and architecture principles.

Comprehensive understanding and application of project management principles, including the ability to budget, schedule, negotiate, and control costs.

Experience managing aviation projects at an operational airport.

Baggage Handling Systems experience is preferred.

Certified Construction Manager (CCM) and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certificate is highly desirable.

Technical Skills

High degree of familiarity with contract and subcontract documents, terms, and conditions.

Comfortable reading and understanding blueprints and drawings.

Highly proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project).

Knowledge of and experience using various Contract Management Platforms and Primavera (P6) software is a plus.

Expertise in reviewing and facilitating RFIs, Submittals, Change Orders and Stakeholder Requests.
