Union Stationary Engineer

The Stationary Engineer will be responsible for the overall maintenance, operation, and cleaning associated with a large industrial utilities facility providing steam, heated hot water, instrument and zero air, chilled water, and other critical services to a manufacturing facility. This role involves monitoring system operations, performing predictive maintenance tasks, and responding to equipment needs as required. The position requires working weekends and holidays on a 7-day schedule, with potential call-in requirements for shift coverage and emergency situations. Key Responsibilities
Utilities Systems Management: Maintain and operate cooling towers, side stream filters, RO systems, and related utilities infrastructure Safety & Compliance: Execute work within structured safety, maintenance, and operating procedures while ensuring environmental compliance Maintenance Operations: Perform scheduled and corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance tasks including ultrasonic leak detection, thermal scans, and vibration analysis Control Room Operations: Monitor and operate systems and equipment in a control room environment Technical Documentation: Read and interpret blueprints, material specifications, manufacturer’s literature, operating procedures, and work instructions Data Management: Collect data, maintain accurate records, and provide comprehensive logbook entries Problem Resolution: Assist in diagnosing and resolving operational issues that affect facility operations or environmental compliance Energy Conservation: Support energy conservation measures and initiatives Process Support: Actively support GM's GMS process and Level 5 BPD Boards Facility Maintenance: Perform routine equipment cleaning and general housekeeping duties Required Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in related utilities systems maintenance and operation Technical Skills: Solid basic mechanical and electrical maintenance/repair skills Knowledge Base: Broad and general knowledge of utility system maintenance and operation practices Preferred Qualifications
Certifications: Boiler operator license from municipality or recognized professional institution Universal Refrigerant Management certification Education: Formal education and training in energy operations, equipment maintenance and repair, or instrumentation and controls
