Full Time Position Overview
We are seeking a Construction Technician to support the AKIRA Construction & Facilities team with store openings, rebuilds, and ongoing maintenance projects. The ideal candidate will possess basic construction skills, a strong work ethic, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on environment. Responsibilities
Assist in new store openings and rebuilds, including: Sanding, painting, cutting, and building in-store fixtures Installing appliances and equipment at store locations Transport materials to and from job sites Support skilled trades (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons) as needed Operate hand tools and power tools (saws, drills, etc.) safely and effectively Perform equipment inspections and routine maintenance on tools Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment Follow all safety protocols and company guidelines Travel to various Chicagoland locations and occasionally out of state Respond to urgent facilities needs outside of standard business hours (occasional nights and weekends) Requirements
Valid driver's license and reliable transportation Full-time availability (40+ hours/week) Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb ladders Willingness to travel as required Strong adherence to safety practices and attention to detail Ideal Candidate Attributes
Basic construction knowledge and hands-on experience Proficient with hand and power tools Woodworking, carpentry, and fixture building skills a plus Basic technical proficiency (email, Zendesk ticketing, etc.) Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings Responsive, team-oriented, and adaptable to shifting priorities Flexible availability and willingness to respond to urgent needs outside typical hours Benefits and Perks
