Level 1 Electrical Mechanics report to a foreman or a designated supervisor and perform installation, alterations, additions, and repairs of electrical systems, equipment, and associated materials within the electrical construction industry.

Responsibilities
Direct and work with an Electrician Helper as directed by supervisor or designated person
Accurately install conduit, wire, pre‑fab assemblies, panel boards, light fixtures, devices, and equipment per layout by supervisor or designated person
Minimize waste of materials, assure quality of installation (no re‑dos), and be consistent with supervisor or designated person layout of tasks
Follow diagrams and blueprints to ensure concealed wiring is installed before future walls, ceilings, and flooring are installed
Measure, cut, thread, ream, assemble, and install conduit using tools such as hacksaw, pipe threader, and conduit bender(s)
Pull and splice wires, strip insulation from terminal leads, twist wires together, and apply terminal connectors or tape
Connect wiring to light fixtures, power equipment, motors, devices, and other electrical apparatus using hand tools and power tools
Test continuity of circuits, circuit wiring to ensure compatibility and safety of components using test instruments
Observe functions of installed equipment or systems to determine hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement
May repair faulty equipment or systems
Complete required paperwork
Monitor safety per Watson Safety Program
Demonstrate knowledge of all tools and equipment
Demonstrate efficient knowledge of trade
Coordinate installation with other trades
Responsible for gathering materials and proper tools to complete assigned tasks
Assist supervisor or designated person to troubleshoot electrical branch circuits and feeders
Position Requirements
License: Current state driver’s license preferred but not required
Certifications: Applicable federal, state, and local certifications as required by job conditions or by the company
Education: High School Graduate or GED
Experience: Minimum 4 years electrical experience required
Working Conditions
Work in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, or snow
Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta‑Johns)
Employee must have required personal tools at all times (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs)
Work from all types of ladders and transport/relocate ladders unassisted; personal weight with tools cannot exceed the rated weight capacity of ladders used
Perform work at various heights, up to 90” from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks, and other safe work areas
Work in restricted areas (switch gear rooms, manholes, utility tunnels, and crawl spaces)
Wear personal protective equipment as required in company’s Safety Handbook
Able to work 40 hours per week plus overtime as required, including night shifts and out‑of‑town work if required
Skills
Positively identify colors of wire and other items as required
Read blueprints, drawings, and schematics
Bend conduit by hand with hand benders
Use power tools safely
Operate equipment such as trenchers, lift trucks, aerial lifts, etc., safely
Dig trenches by hand or power equipment
Follow and practice safe work procedures outlined in Company Safety Handbook
Operate two‑handed tools as required
Operate company truck with manual and automatic transmission
Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions
Operate and work from mechanical personal lifts (electric or gas powered)
Assist supervisor or designated person with energized circuits and equipment as outlined in Company Safety Policy Manual
Effectively supervise electrical helpers to complete tasks assigned by a supervisor safely and accurately
Physical Function
Must hear and see well (either natural or with correction)
Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead
Able to lift objects weighing up to 100 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Tolerant to prolonged standing and movement on foot
Climb ladders (all types)
Complete overhead work for extended periods of time
Responsible for securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks
Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
