Open Energy Solutions Inc. (OES) is an early‑stage services and software development company that is enabling utilities and utility vendors to enhance power system operations through the development and implementation of distributed intelligence and enabling technologies.

Role : OES is seeking an Electrician who will provide relevant skills, experience, and expertise in a utility environment associated with operational technology deployments. While OES' primary functions are around technology solutions and consulting services, this individual plays a critical support role with ensuring integrated equipment is set up and operating properly. Therefore, they must be able to assess, plan, and execute activities associated with low voltage distribution or residential electrical equipment: installation, operation, and/or maintenance. This can be a high‑paced, dynamic environment, so the individual must be responsive, creative, and proficient with respect to individual projects and the job in general. The candidate must, above all, work in a safe manner (public, client, and equipment), and not only ensure their own safety, but provide input to improve the safety level for people and equipment around them.

Roles & Responsibilities:

In any given timeframe, an individual might perform one or more of the following roles. The hired individual should be ready to leverage their knowledge, experience, and skills in support of the needed role. Where gaps exist, it is the responsibility of the individual to reach out to resources (individuals, manuals, internet, etc.) to develop a solution to the problem.

Foundational Capabilities:

Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components (e.g., control panels, circuit breakers, transformers)

Wire electrical circuits and networks, ensuring compatibility, safety, and skillfulness

Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical system issues, safety hazards, and malfunctions using appropriate testing devices and procedures

Perform general electrical maintenance, routine inspections and corrective/preventive maintenance

Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and circuit diagrams

Plan and optimize layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures based on job specs and local codes

Ensure compliance with local and electrical codes

Mentor and oversee electrical apprentices, ensuring work quality and safety compliance

Utilize effective communication and collaboration skills to engage other tradespeople, project managers, contractors, etc. to complete projects efficiently, effectively, and safely

Maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and time spent on jobs

Continually update knowledge and stay current with industry advancements and technologies

Important/Additional Capabilities:

Utility Lineperson

Understand how to install, maintain, and repair electrical distribution systems including conductors, transformers, and other equipment

Respond to emergency situations and troubleshoot any power outages or other issues

(Optional) Operate medium/heavy equipment and use specialized tools to complete various tasks

Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations while working on or near energized equipment

Optional/Bonus Capabilities:

Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) Installer

Terminate both high and low voltage equipment and cable/wiring, and build automotive‑style wire harnesses

Assemble, test, and troubleshoot electrical systems for a variety of EV applications

Troubleshoot EV charger performance issues and locate/isolate ground faults

Perform OEM testing, repairs, and upgrades/ revisions to a broad range of charging equipment, ranging from Level 2 EV chargers to DC Fast Chargers

Coordinate with the Planning and Scheduling team to ensure maintenance schedules are adhered to and work orders are completed accurately and on time

Desired Requirements:

Successful completion of an electrician apprenticeship program

4+ years of electrical contracting experience in a utility environment

Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation

Good understanding of power systems engineering and operations

Light carpentry/mechanical abilities (i.e. assembly of racks, small projects that require design and installation)

Able to lift and carry 50+ pounds Able to sit, stand, kneel, climb, lift, and climb stairs and ladders

Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills

Strong work ethic and positive attitude

Can work independently AND as part of a team environment

English is required, and ability to speak other is a plus

Ability to travel with each trip being multiple days
