Ensures the safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines; following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications; troubleshooting malfunctions. · Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments. · Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts. · Determines changes in dimensional requirements of parts by inspecting used parts, using rulers, calipers, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments. · Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments by using hand tools, levels, and straightedges. · Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventive maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance. · Fabricates repair parts by using basic machine shop instrumentation and equipment. · Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; requesting needed parts from storeroom or from Maintenance Supervisors. · Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results. · Provides mechanical maintenance information by answering questions and requests. · Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information. Completes needed paperwork for all needed procedures for the job function. · Maintains technical knowledge by attending Atkore educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks. · Maintains continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. · Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Complies with all internal S and E policies. Always drives and foster the Atkore Life Savings Rules. · Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results using AFC’s Operating Principles: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation Skills and Qualifications 5 years’ experience working as a mechanic in a manufacturing production environment. Vocational trade education will be counted as 2 years’ experience. Atkore production experience may be counted for needed experience. Internal Maintenance training programs will be counted towards work experience. · Must be flexible with working on other shifts to complete needed critical tasks. · Comply with daily and weekend overtime to meet customer needs. · Experience in maintenance and/or repair of production machinery, pneumatic systems, conveyor systems, and plant infrastructure. (Building and Grounds). · Experience with troubleshooting equipment malfunctions. · Must have basic mechanic tools on site. · Must have technical understanding and knowledge diagrams and schematics. · Experience with basic electrical trouble shooting using an electrical meter. · Diagnosing and repairs to hydraulic and pneumatic systems. · Basic welding and brazing skills and the understanding of general hand power tools. · Basic plumbing skills with plastic, copper and steel materials. · Completion of internal S and E policies and certifications are mandatory. · Self-motivation to drive timely repair to production equipment to meet customers’ expectations. · Full understanding and compliance of Atkore’s LOTO program · Reading and writing English to fill out reports and compliance reports.
