Aeromechanical Engineer, Sr.
Location: Hood River, OR
Job Summary Senior Aeromechanical Design Engineer is a key member of an air vehicle IPT team developing medium UAV systems for military and commercial applications.
Duties
Perform all aspects of vehicle design from initial concept to production‑ready design.
Resolve design challenges and coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering groups.
Build and test prototype systems to validate designs.
Conduct informal and formal presentations.
Use scientific and engineering principles to assess deficiencies and impact of changes.
Guide and direct support personnel in detailed design, testing, and prototype fabrication.
Complete assigned tasks within project schedule and budget.
Supervise activities of other personnel (Team Lead).
Other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
Minimum 8–12 years of relevant technical and design experience.
Proficiency in SolidWorks, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Experience designing military electronics products (UAS experience a plus).
Understanding of metallic, plastic, and composite material properties.
Ability to solve basic structural dynamics problems.
Proficiency in GD&T, ASME, and change control.
Experience designing machined, composite, injection molded, sheet‑metal, wire, and mechanical assemblies for low to high‑volume manufacturing.
Experience with mechanical, lab, field, flight, and environmental testing.
Experience with engineering configuration management.
High‑level program requirements experience.
Other Qualifications & Desired Competencies
Advanced degree preferred.
Experience with SolidWorks EPDM, Agile PLM, and MATLAB.
Hands‑on metal/composite fabrication and 3D printing.
Familiarity with UAVs and related engineering design processes.
Experience with electro‑mechanical/mechanism design, aerodynamics, or data engineering.
Knowledge of FEA, thermal, and aerodynamic analysis.
Strong presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
Strong initiative, ownership, and continuous improvement mindset.
Physical Demands
Work in an office and manufacturing environment.
Sit and stand for long periods; operate computer.
Salary Range $107,370 – $152,250
ITAR Requirement This position requires access to information subject to ITAR/EAR. Applicants must qualify as a U.S. person or obtain an export license. Current U.S. citizenship is required.
